Know About Quality Control and Inspection Services in China

Posted on

Importers who buy products in China have three choices of quality control and inspection agencies to help ensure the quality and compliance of the products they are sourcing from their chosen manufacturer. These are commissioned agencies, trading companies, and third-party service providers. Selecting between these agencies is a matter of knowing their product specialization and their scope of service. Below are some important things you should know about quality control and inspection services providers you will need to work with when sourcing products from China: Commissioned agencies – Commissioned agencies usually have strong ties with factories and manufacturing facilities. They typically charge somewhere between 5 and 10 percent of the FOB rate from buyers for each order followed. Because of their close relations with factories (that give them more money than they usually get from importers and buyers), they have the reputation of favoring manufacturers and defending suppliers over importers during disputes. Trading companies – When not doing product inspections themselves, traders would pay third-party quality control firms to conduct production checks and factory inspections. The advantage of using a trading company over other service providers is that they allow the handling of smaller orders and provide comprehensive services that […]

Mistakes to Avoid When Selecting a Supplier

Posted on

Selecting a supplier that is competent and knowledgeable is often a very difficult task. There are many factories in China, but quality, capability, and experience are often hard to gauge from an outside perspective. This guide serves to help with selecting a supplier that will meet your needs. First off, ask yourself if it is worth the hassle to spend hours of manpower to find a supplier when there are many reputable trading companies that can quash any potential problems while providing peace of mind to you and your company. InnovME is available if you have any questions regarding anything about sourcing. Make sure the language barrier isn’t an issue. Communication can easily break down between parties that use different words to describe different ideas. Make sure you can effectively communicate with the manufacturer, or hire someone who can. Strict quality control checks are necessary when dealing with any supplier, in order to make sure that your goods meet expectations, we recommend a pre-production quality inspection where the facility, staff, and machinery are all inspected. In addition, supplier verification is key to selecting a supplier with good intentions. Don’t be afraid to ask for samples either, they are a good […]

One Belt One Road: The future of commerce in Eurasia?

Posted on

In 2013, the president of China, Xi Jinping vigorously announced the most ambitious plan ever proposed by any country. It was, of course, the One Belt, One Road Initiative. The momentous plan seeks to reinvigorate the Silk Road for modern times. The belt portion of the plan is a land route that retraces, in large part, the original Silk Road, while the road portion is a sea route that connects many key ports. The plan would link over 70% of the world’s countries together in a plan that would work with many different governments to provide massive infrastructure developments all over Eurasia, enabling China to be at the center of a vast boom in international commerce. The plan would, of course, go through some very unstable regions that do not have the capacity to finance the projects themselves. In most of these cases, China agrees to pay for a large part of the proposed project while Chinese state-owned banks provide favorable loans to the local government to pay for the rest. Infrastructure on a massive scale like this can lead to dramatic quality of life improvements for those in developing areas. Things like access to education, clean water, and […]

Why China’s Infrastructure Spending is the Right Move.

Posted on

China consistently pushes the boundaries of what was once thought impossible. In order to accommodate incredible economic growth along with the world’s biggest population, China’s Infrastructure has had hundreds of billions of dollars put into massive infrastructure projects that seem like something out of a science fiction novel. While these monuments of modern engineering are impressive in their own right, many fear that this expansion is simply occurring too fast to be sustainable. After all, China does owe quite a bit of money to many different sources. Despite the negatives, these massive projects drive growth on a scale that is not seen anywhere else in the world. Tourism and domestic and international business are areas that are greatly aided by the massive infrastructure spending spree. The airports in China are very advanced, Beijing airport is the sixth-largest building in the world, and this greatly aids in the efficiency of getting people where they need to go. Opened only five years ago the Kunming Changshui International Airport is the second largest airport in China and allows the migration of people along with trade and commerce into bigger cities. China’s rail systems are also incredibly innovative, with high-speed trains that are capable […]
